I took my video camera out to the Castro on a Saturday night and asked people to tell me their stories about the neighborhood. Some people shared their favorite memories, and two Jesuses had words about Kathy Griffin and poverty.

On May 1, workers and immigrants made a unified call for social justice to honor MayDay. Marches throughout the day drew the connection between the unjust War in Iraq and our unjust immigration policies. Later I headed to the Castro to ask how people felt about these issues.

The Castro Theatre screened Brokeback Mountain as a tribute to Heath Ledger, who recently died. I took my video camera to ask people what they thought about the movie. People praised the art and cinematography, and they debated the movie's role in pushing for equality for LGBTQ people.

On Saturday, July 26, the Human Rights Campaign held a stuffy dinner auction and fundraiser at the Westin St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco. In a show of solidarity with trans folks, the local LGBT community threw a "Left Out Street Party" for everyone who got left out of the HRC's Employment Non-Discrimination Act.
